OUR MISSION
Despite improved drugs and diagnostics available, TB continues to spread particularly in countries like India and China that are known for their economic growth. India has recently changed its name of TB control programme to National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme or NTEP; the Indian Prime Minister has announced that the country would end TB by 2025. TB continues to spread; the number of TB patients accessing Ekta Niketan TB Centre is on the rise.
At Ekta Niketan, we are committed to control tuberculosis in marginalised communities - people living in remote rural areas where healthcare is in a sorry state, in remote tribal villages, people living near mines and hazardous industries, migrant workers in city’s slums. Our mission is to address the root causes of tuberculosis.
We believe without equitable development and wellbeing for all, medicines alone cannot control the spread of the disease. While we endeavour to provide quality TB care to communities who do not have access to basic healthcare, we aim to develop a model community-led TB programme and to address social and political determinants of TB in a meaningful way.
