Within the Third World there exists Fourth World
Tuberculosis is a disease of the poor. Resources are not equitably distributed for all across India. The area where Ekta Niketan TB Centre operates seems another world, the Fourth World. People here lack economic opportunities, healthcare, education; the majority are undernourished, the incidence of TB is very high. Health workers of Ekta Niketan provide quality TB care to patients in remote rural areas.
Ekta Niketan is a popular TB centre. Families bring thin and weak patients from far away villages. Some patients are too weak, an adult weighing 30 kg is not uncommon.
